God Save Texas

This documentary trilogy inspired by Lawrence Wright’s book follows three filmmakers’ distinct perspectives on their Texas hometowns.

Academy-award winning director Richard Linklater returns to Huntsville, to expose the prison-industrial complex from a very personal perspective. Alex Stapleton goes back to Houston to study the intersections of the booming energy sector and the Black community that is often left behind. Iliana Sosa goes to the border, from El Paso to Juárez, Mexico, to explore the liminal experience of the many residents who move between both cities on a daily basis.
